Australian YouTuber Previously Deported Now Reported to Police for Alleged Harassment of American Family in Bali | Gita Sportiva
Gitablogsport.com - Digital drama resurfaces, this time involving an Australian YouTuber identified by the initials JP, who previously went viral after being deported by Indonesian Immigration in November 2024. The controversy has escalated, as JP is now officially reported to the Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) for allegedly harassing an American expatriate living in Bali, Richard Garcia, and his family.
The Initial Controversy: False Claims About Property Ownership in Bali
JP gained notoriety through a viral video titled *"How I make MILLIONS of dollars in Bali"*, in which he claimed ownership of a 1.1-hectare plot of land and a restaurant in the popular Canggu area. However, after an investigation by the Directorate General of Immigration, it was revealed that the claims were fabricated. The authorities considered JP’s content potentially damaging to Indonesia’s reputation as a promising investment destination.
Alleged Threats Against American Expat’s Family
In May 2025, JP was reported to the police following allegations of threats made toward Richard Garcia and his family. According to reports, JP not only sent intimidating messages via WhatsApp but also allegedly stalked the daily activities of Richard’s underage children—escalating the situation to a disturbing level.
On February 24, 2025, the manager of the villa where Richard and his family were staying informed the authorities that several individuals claiming to represent JP had delivered messages demanding that Richard stop “bothering” the YouTuber. Richard, however, insists he never took any action that could be considered harassment.
Family Forced to Flee for Safety
The ongoing threats forced Richard and his family to seek refuge in Japan, prioritizing their safety above all. In one of the WhatsApp messages, JP allegedly threatened to spread false information intended to publicly humiliate Richard’s wife and children.
“This kind of threat against my family is beyond acceptable. It cannot be tolerated and must be dealt with legally,” Richard told the media.
Legal Action Taken
Feeling that their rights had been violated, Richard and his legal team, led by prominent lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis, have filed a civil lawsuit against JP for unlawful conduct. The case is now officially registered and under legal review.
“This lawsuit is solely to protect our client's legal interests, which have been seriously harmed. We will not stop until justice is fully served,” said Todung.
He also emphasized that letting such misconduct go unpunished could set a dangerous precedent for other irresponsible foreign nationals. The incident also serves as a reminder that JP was previously deported by Immigration in November 2024 due to controversial content that misrepresented facts.
