Pope Leo XIV Officially Inaugurated, Promotes Love and Unity | Gita Blog Sport
Gitablogsport.com - Pope Leo XIV has been officially inaugurated as the new global leader of the Roman Catholic Church. The inauguration Mass was held at St. Peter’s Square, Vatican City, on Sunday (May 18, 2025).
During his homily, Pope Leo XIV called for the promotion of love and unity among all believers.
Delivering his sermon in Italian, the Pope emphasized the importance of building a unified and inclusive Church.
He reaffirmed that the Church must welcome everyone, embrace diversity, and reject hatred and division.
Pope Leo XIV also referenced the sacred mission of Saint Peter, which highlights the importance of deeper love.
“In our time, we still witness far too many conflicts, wounds caused by hatred, violence, prejudice, fear of differences, and an economic model that exploits the Earth’s resources and marginalizes the poorest,” he said during his address, as quoted by NBC News.
He called for the creation of a peaceful world.
“This is the missionary spirit that should inspire us not to isolate ourselves in small, exclusive groups, nor to feel superior to the world,” he added.
Pope Leo XIV was elected following a two-day conclave held earlier this month after the passing of Pope Francis on April 21.
Born Robert Prevost, he is the first Pope from the United States to lead the global Catholic community.
